THE WARD JUNIOR HOME INTERNATIONAL 2009
Newborough, Wales, 4-6 September 2009.
Summary
This year the Ward Junior Home International was hosted by Eryri Orienteers on Newborough, Anglesey. Pam Chamberlain organised an excellent weekend that was enjoyed by all competitors. Both competitions were held on Newborough Dunes.
The England team had two changes from that originally selected. Peter Bray was unable to compete due to being in New Zealand and Graham Hemingway was also selected for Scotland and chose to take up that option. As a result Jack Benham and Thomas Louth were promoted into the team.
Matthew Halliday and Rebecca Harding acted as team captains for the weekend.
England tied in first place with Scotland on the individual day and won the relay day ensuring overall victory.
Accommodation
Accommodation for all teams was at The Conway Centre, Llanfairpwll, Anglesey. Sleeping accommodation was in dormitories accommodating six team members. All meals were provided by the Conway Centre apart from Sunday lunch which was provided by Eryri Orienteers.
Travelling
All team members travelled to the event by minibus and car.
Prize Giving & Social
This was held at The Conway Centre along with a ceilidh.
